Being a Momma!

Well its been three weeks and life is good!
Being a mom is hard... but I absolutely love it!
The first few days I thought, "Man I have this down, it just isn't as hard as I thought it would be." And then sleep deprivation caught up all way too fast and then the emotions...those annoying emotions. I would cry for absolutely no reason at all... (Why didn't anyone mention this?) I mean I don't mind crying if I just knew why I was doing it and its not like just shedding a few tears I'm talking full on bawling uncontrollably and it would just start up without warning. This is what I disliked most. Thank goodness I have a sweet husband who will hold me until I'm done and family who told me it's normal to cry. I seriously thought something was wrong with me and just knowing that it was common and normal made me feel so much better.
Most days I don't get dressed, I don't usually get around to brushing my teeth till 11:00 or after, some days I stink, Im covered it spit up, milk and sometimes probably a little poo... for all I know, taking a shower is like a mini vacation, breakfast...whats breakfast? In fact most days its more like food...whats food lol!
But despite all the things you sacrifice it doesn't even compare to the happiness and joy of having this sweet little baby boy in our lives! I love him so much more than I could have ever imagined!
Having a baby is certainly an adjustment (Thanks to Audrey and her little book about getting baby on a schedule, things are already looking better. Thank you Thank you!) but I am learning how to get things done with a baby! (Its only taken a month.)

Jase has had a lot of visitors since his arrival! I have sooo many pictures but here are a few for your viewing pleasure!

I don't know what I would have done if my sweet mom didn't come help us! We sure loved having her here and we sure miss her!

Grandma Sue and Grandpa Dan! They bought us a sweet rocking recliner! Jase and I enjoy it on a regular basis! :) Thank You!

Photo Shoot!

Jessica and I decided to take "newborn" pictures of Jase, even though he was a few weeks old when we took these! For the most part he did really well! He even peed on Jessica so that was fun!
Jessica designed some super cute birth announcements for us and they are adorable! You guys...if you need any sort of announcement done...my sister is where its at! PC: Also my super talented sister!

Labor and Delivery

It started Friday night, late. I just assumed I was having braxton-hicks contractions and just tried to ignore them. About 2:30 am I couldn't take it anymore, I wasn't sleeping anyway so I decided to watch some Andy Griffith and decided to keep track of how often the contractions were coming. I still wasn't sure they were real. I guess I expected them to hurt more. They were coming 10 min apart so I would sleep for 10 min until the next contraction came. This went on all night.  Dallen woke up around 10:00am and made us breakfast, the contractions were now about 5 min apart and getting more intense but like I said I just wasn't sure, I mean they hurt but they still weren't as bad as I thought they would be. So I called my mom and told her I thought we would be having a baby today and asked her some questions. We finished our breakfast and I decided I would take a shower. When I was done the contractions were about 2-3 min apart and I told Dallen "Lets just go!" Still thinking when we got there they were going to send us home. It was about 11:00am!

It was a holiday weekend and a Saturday so the parking lot was practically empty which I was grateful for because we got a close parking space. When we got out of the car I started having another contraction and told Dallen to walk slower. There were some people in the parking lot and they were smiling at us...made me feel a little weird but it was kinda funny. Anyway once we got in the hospital we walked down to where I was told to go and ring a bell...well someone had just rang it so the doors were open so we just went through them only to discover we were in the surgery wing and the Labor and Delivery was across the hall. So we went across the hall only there wasn't a bell for us to ring so we just kinda stood there like idiots and tried to get in but the doors don't open from the outside. Then we discovered a phone on the wall so I picked it up and told the lady on the other side that I thought I was having a baby and I didn't know what to do...she let us in! They were all so calm, they asked me how far along I was, (39 weeks) and had me sign a few things. They took me to a room and had me put a gown on. I was surprised they didn't check to see how dilated I was first thing. We were there for probably 10 more min answering questions before the nurse finally checked me. I was dilated to a 7.  Her exact words were "Holy cow you're dilated to a 7 and I can feel your water sack, I'm gonna go call the doctor!" And she did. I tested positive for Strep B so I was supposed to be on antibiotics for 4 hours before having the baby but we didn't really have that kinda time so the nurse was told to "dump it in." The doctor showed up shortly there after and broke my water...it was weird, warm and kinda gross feeling and a ton of water...(at least that's what my doctor said.) He said breaking my water would help move things along...and it did. Not long after that I was dilated to a 10 and told it was time to push. So they went and got my doctor and started getting everything set up. Pulled the stirrups out and placed my legs in them. They worked really quick!  I asked one of the nurses earlier if I would feel like I needed to push when the time came and she assured me that I would feel the "Ring of Fire" and I would want to push. I gotta tell ya I never felt this "ring of fire" and I never wanted to push...especially after they made me push the first time and it hurt like hades! This was the first time I actually felt serious pain and thats when I wanted something... for the pain...but it was too late for that apparently. I didn't understand how the whole pain killing thing worked and didn't work. It just doesn't seem right that when you are in the worst pain its too late to help you. Lol. So I just did what I was told...well mostly. They tried to get me to push for 10 sec three times during each contraction...I never made it 3 times. At this point I was pretty much begging for my life and for anyone to help me and feeling like a total idiot! I was screaming and crying through every contraction like a mad lady. I felt like my eyes were going to pop out! At one point I told everyone I knew I was a psycho, which they all assured me I wasn't but I sure felt like one. The baby had finally moved down into the birth canal (or whatever) and then there was no relief even after the contractions. I asked if I could have an epidural now!  (I know, pathetic.) Of course I was told no because they could see the baby's head! A couple pushes later and out came the babies head. My Doc tried to get me to look because I think he wanted me to watch my baby being born to which I may have yelled, "I don't want to watch just GET. IT. OUT!" (Embarrassing. I apologized later. lol) So 10-15 min of pushing and he was here! 1:04pm! Only 2 hours since the time we had arrived! Apparently thats a fast labor and thank the heavens! My parents told me it was pretty amazing how fast it happened and I told them Heavenly Father knew I wouldn't be able to handle it any longer! Bless you women who do it for hours on end, I would have died!
They set my sweet baby on my chest and he was perfect! Dallen cut the umbilical cord! He was a little blue and purple so I asked if he was ok ha ha! They took my baby and did whatever it is that they do with new babies and then gave him back! He was 7lbs and 15oz of perfection! 19 inches long (Although I don't think that was super accurate since I took him back to the doc 4 days later and he was 21 inches then...) I was shaking so bad I asked Dallen to take him because I was afraid I would drop him! My Doc told me I had just experienced a major adrenaline rush and that the shaking was normal and would wear off, although I felt like a real goof. Ive never shaken that bad and it was uncontrollable!
So...I did it...and I did it all natural and yes, I am proud to be able to say that! I am glad that I was able to experience what it feels like to have a baby! Will I do it that way again..? I don't know but I sure am glad to have this little angel as part of our family!
Congratz if you made it all the way to the end!

Heading "OUT" of the Third Trimester!!!

We are getting so close to getting to meet our little man! I finally feel like maybe I have everything in order and its now acceptable for him to make his appearance anytime he feels like it!
I washed a few bottles today, the freezer is stocked with bread & a few meals (We have a very small freezer), my hospital bag is mostly ready, fully equipped with snacks for Dallen and I (If they allow me to eat...I don't know) and 2 outfits for Junior! So I'm ready but I'm not really ready! The idea of pushing a baby out is still terrifying :/ But I really wanna hold my baby in my arms and snuggle him... and I'm kinda sick of being fat ha ha!  And I know its weird but I'm really looking forward to being able to lay on my stomach again! Being pregnant has been fun while its lasted but the bigger I get and the more hard and more uncomfortable regular everyday things become the more I think "Ok...this belly of mine is huge and in the way, come out come out little guy!"

It's true when people say the last weeks of pregnancy take forrrreeevvver! I swear I was 36 weeks pregnant for 3 weeks but somehow we made it to 38 weeks (In a few days lol) and I'm hoping he comes week 39! Please don't wait till your due date!

At my last apt. my Doc. told me our little guy was so low and asked me if I felt like I was carrying a bowling ball between my legs Lol. He really wanted me to be dilated... and I was, 1.5! Which really isn't much but it gives me hope that he will come just a little early!

Well... wish us luck and hopefully I will be back in a few weeks with pictures of our little bundle of joy! (At least we hope he is a little bundle of joy ha ha)

38 Weeks!

Heading into The Third Trimester

Here we are entering the third trimester! A little less than 3 months and he will be here! Pregnancy is still being kind to me although things are starting to get a little uncomfortable, like shaving my legs, putting shoes on and acid reflux (which I had originally thought was heartburn) which seems to get worse with each passing week. It use to be that it would only bother me at night but now it seems to think it can torture me after every meal and in between!  And like my belly it seems my face is getting more round and chubby and sometimes I feel like my entire body is turning into cottage cheese but I know it will all be worth it!

My favorite thing about being pregnant is feeling our little baby move and kick! He doesn't like anything putting pressure on his little home and he kicks to let me know when anything touching my belly is bothering him. He especially hates seat-belts ha ha!

A few weeks ago I think I had my first real "pregnancy moment." I was at Walmart doing the grocery shopping when all of sudden I felt like I was going to pass out and it was suddenly 200 degrees... I started sweating and felt like I was starving and if I didn't eat right then I would die! There was no where to sit down except on the floor which would have just been weird so I decided against that, I took my jacket off... which helped very little...but that left food which I was surrounded by, I started looking through my cart to see what I could eat...a box of granola bars! I tore the box open like an animal and started stuffing my face and continued on my way glancing at people I passed to see if they looked at me like I was some sort or weirdo. (No one did. Lol) Although it was a little embarrassing at the check out to admit that I had not accidentally chose a box that had already been opened but that I had indeed done it myself!

HaPpY HaLlOwEen!

Dallens parents came down for the weekend so we had a little party over at Carson and Lindsay's! I don't remember the last time I dressed up for Halloween but I saw the "Prego" idea on pinterest and decided Dallen and I should dress up and of course it only made sense for Dallen to be a chef! Luckily the costumes were really easy to make. We almost died laughing when Dallen put his hat on because it turned out soooo tall but Dallen said he liked it so we left it that way!

 I am 24 weeks pregnant.
My fingers are getting chubby and everyday I debate about taking my rings off because I'm afraid one day soon they will be stuck! Ha ha
Feeling big but great.
Having a lot of heartburn (Throat-burn) Thank goodness for Tums!
Baby is still a kicking machine!

I made a throwing up pumpkin cracker and dip tray for the occasion. It turned our cute and the dip wasn't bad either.

These are probably the best pumpkins Dallen and I have ever carved ha ha.

Double Baby Shower

Our double baby shower was a lot of fun!!! I'm sorry I don't have more pictures to show you. I left them in Moab. Just know that it was super cute and we had lots of yummy soup and played fun games! Thank you everyone who came!

My mom and Jessica made our super cute pumpkin shirts and put everything together! I want to show you all the cute things that were given but that would just be ridiculous so I will just show you the super cute bear/motorcycle and onesies my mom made because they are adorable!

It was fun to visit with family and friends and having the baby shower made me all the more excited to have this little boy join our family so I can actually use all this fun stuff and because getting bigger and bigger everyday even for something you really want isn't all its cracked up to be. lol. I'm not even that big (so I'm told) but I feel big and self-conscience about my size but I love to feel our baby kick and move and my goodness does he kick and move! Sometimes I cant believe that my body has and is capable of having a little human in it. Its weird but also really amazing!  :)
