A Great Week!

The past 8 or so days have been a lot of fun…Dallen was home! Of course half of those days were spent on the mountain because its hunting season and that's why he came home.  Athena and I made a few trips up after work to see the guys and check up on them :) We might have missed them a little too. It was fun to see them even if it was only for a few hours before we had to leave again.

Wednesday night we were all downstairs watching Captain America when My uncle Ricky's phone goes off. Then we hear…"Oh my gosh... Oh my gosh!" Of course we're all wondering what is going on…he got a message from Clint with a picture…Dallen had got his elk! So of course we had to stop the movie so my dad could call and get the details…Clint answered and while he is rehashing the story to my dad my uncles are also asking Clint questions even though they're not even on the phone! "How big is it? Do they need help? Do we need to go up there?" They were all so excited it was funny! I have to admit I might have been a little excited myself…I couldn't stop smiling and Kenzie was laughing at me cuz I couldn't stop smiling, I even tried!  I felt so much pride…like "yeah that's my man!" I felt so ridiculous but its good to be proud of my soon-to-be-husband even if it is over a dead animal, right? Ha ha.

Dallen and his Grandpa! I believe it scored 342.

Saturday we decided we would go to the mountain and do some four-wheeling for something to do!
It was fun! We went over to Kents cabin to see if he or his daughter had got anything. He got one and when we got there Danny was in the process of skinning the face off…….

We stayed there for a while and visited and then we went looking for the goats that apparently were recently placed on our mountains. Dallen really really wants to see them but alas we saw nothing!

 Dallen looking stoic!

Isn't this gorgeous! I loved just riding around looking at all the changing leaves and smelling the quakies! The mountain really is a beautiful place!

This is Danny and Sues property and it really does have an amazing view!
Kent and his family came over to look for more elk so we had to whisper…that is until Hailey and her family showed up!!!!! I was super excited to see them! Hailey doesn't like to whisper so that was pretty much the end of that…which I have to admit I was glad! A person can only whisper and be quiet for so long! We sat around the fire and chit-chatted and ate delicious cobbler, compliments of Hailey! :)

A few days later it was time to cut up the elk meat and package it. You guys…. I do not like touching raw meat. I don't consider myself a girly girl, in fact quite the opposite but touching raw meat for me is like finger nails on a chalk board or filing my nails, makes me clinch my jaw! Danny and Grandpa Dalton were giving me a hard time about it and Dallen just doesn't understand… I mean how am I gonna cook for him if I won't touch raw meat?! ha ha!
After they had cut it all off the bone and David had ground it up it was time to put it in bags… I decided I guess I had better try and get over this because I know I am going to have to sooner or later, so I got off my lazy scared bum and was mentally preparing myself to stick my hand into the ewy gooey ground up meat when Sue said, "You can be the second bagger!" Which meant that Dallen would stuff a bag full of meat and then I would put it in a second bag and squish the air out and put it in a pile! Thank you Sue! ha ha! Now this didn't keep my hands completely "raw meat free" but I figure it was better than completely emerging my hands in the stuff. Baby steps...at least until the next time :/

Cutting meat Dalton style…inside with a football game. Look how concentrated they all are!

Sue made us some delicious scones!!! This one looks like a heart don't ya think?

Why "Its All Worth It"...

So I decided that it was time for a change. I had anticipated doing an entire blog makeover but after looking at all the templates and deciding that I already had the best one I settled on just changing the title! Which is the reason for this post, to tell you all about it!

Lately Ive been hearing "It's hard but its worth it"…a lot. Of course they are referring to being married! Well no one really goes into detail about whats hard…except the usual; communication.  Of course theres more than that I'm sure, in fact it usually isn't hard for me to come up with my own reasons why I would think it would be hard…We have to share with each other, men are can be gross, women get their feelings hurt (usually by the man who has no idea), WE ARE DIFFERENT, we have to be real live adults with bills and we have to buy our own food…which we will then have to cook, (no more moms) (excuse me while I lament that loss, I will most definitely miss my sweet mom) we have to take care of each other now and it feels so overwhelming…just to name a few.

So why? Why is this all worth it? Well I don't know, at least not yet. Except for the fact that I get to be with Dallen all the time and that's gonna be so fun and awesome, I don't know the answers to these questions…so I'm here to take you on our journey and tell you what I learn and why I think its worth it because I'm sure it will be! Life and progress are always worth it! :)

And if you haven't had enough pictures of Dallen and I…heres one more! I just think he is so handsome! (Id say cute but Dallen is sure that men are not cute…ever) Seriously if it weren't weird or I could get paid to stare at pictures of him all day I would. Is that creepy? Maybe I shouldn't admit that…? Oh well!

32 Days…And a Dallen Pick Me Up!

Can you believe in 32 days I will be Shaylee …Dalton?!? Holy cow that is SO crazy! I will be a married person…yikes! The idea is crazy scary and awesome at the same time! I think the closer it gets the more emotional and worried I get but from what I hear thats pretty normal, which is comforting to me. Its always nice to know you are not alone! But in the area of "worried and emotional" you can find just about every woman that ever lived so I have a lot of opportunities for comfort and understanding!

I tend to share a lot of these feelings with Dallen…maybe too much at times. I think I make him worry but I'm glad that we do have the kind of relationship where we feel comfortable enough to share everything!
This last week was one of the more emotional weeks Ive had yet. I was feeling depressed and grumpy and having to be away from Dallen just isn't any fun.  Yes, I am one of those girls. I promised myself I would never be one of... "those girls." You know the ones who can't be apart from their significant other for very long or life isn't worth living…ok so maybe that's a little extreme and I don't consider myself that bad…but you get the idea.
Anyway…I went to see Dallen this weekend with this attitude of "poor me," my life is so hard. Blah blah blah…and truly that's what it is…blah blah! I mean if I think about it… life isn't bad right now…Life is good! I get to marry my best friend in 32 days and we will get to be together FOREVER!

Dallen has an easier time remembering this and has to remind me often that there are more good great things to come of all this than bad and everything will be fine! He's the optimist!

By the time the weekend was through I was kind of surprised to find that my attitude had changed from "this is hard and scary" to "I can't wait till 32 days are up and I can be with Dallen all the time!" And I owe this to him, sometimes I wonder how he does it! How he can make me feel better about life and make me just plain happy! Sometimes I'm afraid that one day Dallen is going to realize what a nut case I am and run away!
But until then… (which hopefully never comes) I will be forever grateful for him and his positive outlook, for comforting me, being understanding and always making me laugh!!!

Mmm.. he *is good lookin isn't he!!! :)
