A Great Week!

The past 8 or so days have been a lot of fun…Dallen was home! Of course half of those days were spent on the mountain because its hunting season and that's why he came home.  Athena and I made a few trips up after work to see the guys and check up on them :) We might have missed them a little too. It was fun to see them even if it was only for a few hours before we had to leave again.

Wednesday night we were all downstairs watching Captain America when My uncle Ricky's phone goes off. Then we hear…"Oh my gosh... Oh my gosh!" Of course we're all wondering what is going on…he got a message from Clint with a picture…Dallen had got his elk! So of course we had to stop the movie so my dad could call and get the details…Clint answered and while he is rehashing the story to my dad my uncles are also asking Clint questions even though they're not even on the phone! "How big is it? Do they need help? Do we need to go up there?" They were all so excited it was funny! I have to admit I might have been a little excited myself…I couldn't stop smiling and Kenzie was laughing at me cuz I couldn't stop smiling, I even tried!  I felt so much pride…like "yeah that's my man!" I felt so ridiculous but its good to be proud of my soon-to-be-husband even if it is over a dead animal, right? Ha ha.

Dallen and his Grandpa! I believe it scored 342.

Saturday we decided we would go to the mountain and do some four-wheeling for something to do!
It was fun! We went over to Kents cabin to see if he or his daughter had got anything. He got one and when we got there Danny was in the process of skinning the face off…….

We stayed there for a while and visited and then we went looking for the goats that apparently were recently placed on our mountains. Dallen really really wants to see them but alas we saw nothing!

 Dallen looking stoic!

Isn't this gorgeous! I loved just riding around looking at all the changing leaves and smelling the quakies! The mountain really is a beautiful place!

This is Danny and Sues property and it really does have an amazing view!
Kent and his family came over to look for more elk so we had to whisper…that is until Hailey and her family showed up!!!!! I was super excited to see them! Hailey doesn't like to whisper so that was pretty much the end of that…which I have to admit I was glad! A person can only whisper and be quiet for so long! We sat around the fire and chit-chatted and ate delicious cobbler, compliments of Hailey! :)

A few days later it was time to cut up the elk meat and package it. You guys…. I do not like touching raw meat. I don't consider myself a girly girl, in fact quite the opposite but touching raw meat for me is like finger nails on a chalk board or filing my nails, makes me clinch my jaw! Danny and Grandpa Dalton were giving me a hard time about it and Dallen just doesn't understand… I mean how am I gonna cook for him if I won't touch raw meat?! ha ha!
After they had cut it all off the bone and David had ground it up it was time to put it in bags… I decided I guess I had better try and get over this because I know I am going to have to sooner or later, so I got off my lazy scared bum and was mentally preparing myself to stick my hand into the ewy gooey ground up meat when Sue said, "You can be the second bagger!" Which meant that Dallen would stuff a bag full of meat and then I would put it in a second bag and squish the air out and put it in a pile! Thank you Sue! ha ha! Now this didn't keep my hands completely "raw meat free" but I figure it was better than completely emerging my hands in the stuff. Baby steps...at least until the next time :/

Cutting meat Dalton style…inside with a football game. Look how concentrated they all are!

Sue made us some delicious scones!!! This one looks like a heart don't ya think?
